Small desktops, full-size Windows

Refurbished mini PCs and tiny desktops.

A mini PC is a full Windows desktop in a case about the size of a hardcover book. Business models like the Dell OptiPlex Micro, Lenovo ThinkCentre Tiny and HP ProDesk Micro handle office work, browsing and video calls, take up almost no desk space and use little power. We sell them professionally refurbished, with a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty.

Is a mini PC right for you?

What a mini PC is good at, and what it isn’t.

A good fit for:

  • Small desks, reception counters and kitchens
  • Email, documents, browsing and video calls
  • Home offices and students
  • A quiet computer that uses little power
  • Media players and small home projects

Not the right fit for:

  • Modern gaming
  • Adding a graphics card later
  • Lots of internal drives

Three names, one idea

Micro, Tiny and Mini: the same kind of computer.

Each brand names its small business desktops differently. We stock all three.

Dell OptiPlex Micro

Dell’s smallest business desktop. Most of our mini PCs are OptiPlex Micro models.

See refurbished Dell OptiPlex.

Lenovo ThinkCentre Tiny

Lenovo’s version, with model numbers ending in “q”, like the M720q.

Same size class, same everyday use.

HP ProDesk and EliteDesk Mini

HP’s small business desktops, sold as Mini or Micro depending on the model.

Check the listing for ports and Wi-Fi.

Setting one up

What to know before you set up a mini PC.

It uses a power adapter, like a laptop, instead of a power cord into the case. Keep the adapter with the computer.

It needs a monitor, keyboard and mouse. Check which video ports the listing shows, usually DisplayPort or HDMI, so you can match your monitor or cable.

It can hide behind the monitor. Most business mini PCs have holes for a VESA mounting bracket, sold separately, that attaches to the back of a monitor.

Wi-Fi isn’t on every model. If you won’t run a network cable, look for Wi-Fi in the listing, or ask us.

Before you buy

Four things to check on a mini PC.

Our listings show all four. Ask us if you’re not sure.

The processor

A recent Intel Core i5 handles everyday work well. Older chips are fine for basic tasks.

16GB of RAM and an SSD

Most of our mini PCs have an SSD and 16GB of RAM, which keeps Windows quick.

Video ports

Make sure the ports match your monitor, or plan on an adapter.

Windows version

Most run Windows 11. Our Retro mini PCs run Windows 10 for older software that needs it.

FAQs

Common questions about mini PCs.

What is a mini PC?

A full Windows desktop in a very small case, about the size of a hardcover book. It does the same everyday work as a regular desktop and uses an external power adapter.

Are refurbished mini PCs good?

For office work, browsing and video calls, yes. Business models from Dell, Lenovo and HP are built for daily use. Ours are professionally refurbished and include a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty.

What’s the difference between Micro, Tiny and Mini?

Just the brand’s name for it. Dell calls its mini PCs Micro, Lenovo calls them Tiny, and HP uses Mini or Micro.

Can a mini PC run Windows 11?

Most of ours do. Windows 11 needs UEFI firmware that supports Secure Boot, and a TPM 2.0 chip. The listing shows which version of Windows is installed.

Can I game on a mini PC?

Not modern games. Business mini PCs don’t have room for a graphics card. See refurbished gaming computers instead.

Can I mount a mini PC behind my monitor?

Most business mini PCs can mount on a VESA bracket, sold separately, that attaches to the back of a monitor.

Can I see one before I buy it?

Yes. Come in Tuesday to Saturday, 12:00 to 5:30 pm. If you have a model in mind, call 210-710-2020 first to check it’s still in stock. We don’t ship.
